Horse Jamboree Results
Charles County Fairgrounds
July 9-10, 2003
The 2003 Horse Jamboree was held on July 9-10 at the Charles
County Fairgrounds with over 120 4-H participants! This was
the second year for the Charles County volunteers and County
Extension Educator, Karol Dyson, to host the event and they
did an outstanding job once again. The two days of fun and
educational events consisted of a Horsemanship contest, State
Horse Communications contest, lunging and calf roping demonstration,
a variety of equine workshops, dirty pony contest, dancing,
and crafts. Everyone shared in the learning and the fun, including
the volunteers from all of the participating counties! Winners
of the contests are summarized below:
HORSEMANSHIP
Juniors (tie): Gabrielle Van Tassel (Montgomery), Shayla Keating
(Montgomery)
Intermediate (tie): Rachel Cooke (Harford), Laura Bradley
(Howard), Amanda Van Tassel (Montgomery)
Senior (tie): Kelley Walter (Howard), Karyn Casper (Frederick)

Team Demo:
Juniors: Aubrey Edkins and MacKenzie Bernard (Howard)
Intermediates: Rosa DiPiazza and Sarah Plies (Harford)
Seniors: Alexandra Bernard and Jaclyn Pavlos (Howard)
Individual Demo:
Junior: Weber Stitbolt (Anne Arundel)
Intermediate: Heather Anderson (Frederick)

Junior: Suzannah Macleod (Carroll)

OVERALL HORSEMANSHIP WINNER
In addition, overall winners in each age division were chosen
based on their Communications Contest scores, Horsemanship
Contest scores, and Interview scores. The overall winners
in each age division received a jacket donated by Mid-Atlantic
Farm Credit. Also, the Senior division overall winner received
a $500 scholarship donated by Dr. Debbie Bowman of Westminster,
MD. Thank you sponsors!
