The State Public Speaking Contest is divided up into both age (as with all state contests) and presentation categories. The age categories are junior (8-10 years, as of January 1 of the current year), intermediate (11-13 years), and senior (14-18 years). The presentation categories are speech, individual demonstration, and team demonstration, where a team consists of two individuals in the same age category.
